You started writing your book. Now you’re stuck in the middle. You may have even dabbled with AI. It’s not working. What do you do?

Work with a professional developmental editor. That’s what!

The Author’s Writer’s expertise in developmental and line editing has been honed from decades of experience as a college/university teacher of English and decades of experience in editing manuscripts.

When you choose to work with me as your editor, I will read and review your manuscript for its overall appeal and organization, highlighting areas that may be confusing to your readers and/or lacking in detail. I will also perform a thorough examination, providing valuable feedback on how you can reorganize, restate, or reword your book to make it a professionally-written page-turner.

Once you email me your document as a Word doc, we will convene for  a 30-minute onboarding phone or Zoom call. While I’m working on your book, I’ll keep you apprised of my progress until completion. At the end, you will receive a summary report as well as the edited version of your document using the MSWord Track Changes feature.

You worked hard on your book. Now work with an experienced editor. Don’t shortchange your work.

If you so desire, I can also revise certain sections of your book. Please let me know. This may change the cost of the edit.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

If you want to bring your most professional work possible to market, you will want both an in-depth developmental and line edit. Depending upon the length of your book, my normal turnaround time is 3 to 4 weeks. The standard cost of an in-depth developmental and line edit starts at 3500 USD for a 30,000-word book. If you are writing a shorter book, the cost will be commensurate with the word count. Longer books are more. Please contact me with your specific needs for custom pricing.

To begin work, I require a fifty percent retainer, one quarter mid process, and one quarter upon final completion.
