Writing is a mystery. When we put pen to paper, our writing will always surprise us. Writers never know exactly what they will write before they put pen to paper, even when the intention is to record events, reflect upon memories, work out feelings, or understand life experiences.
The act of writing helps us recognize the depth of our knowledge. Sometimes we think we know a lot about a subject, but when we start writing about it, we realize that we don’t know as much as we thought. Writing always reveals our surface-level thoughts first. Then, once we get past this, our writing can lead to discovery of ideas and the making of connections we hadn’t considered before.
Writing is all about exploration, and it’s always about experimentation. It leads us to ask questions and look for answers. We may head down rabbit trails and find dead ends, take detours, or roundabouts, but we never end up back where we started. Writing is a journey, unplanned, yet fulfilling.
Some people feel compelled to write, even if only for themselves. They do not see writing as a task. They write for enjoyment or necessity. Some of us feel the need to create, to feel, to experience, and explore with words and the spaces in between.
Writing authentically means being true to oneself. With pen and paper and candlelight and a quiet space, we may learn about ourselves.
Hi. I’m Wendy, The Author’s Writer. I am an authentic writer who has been writing for decades, long before AI was invented. I find it peaceful and relaxing to write, which always leads me to discover something new about my surroundings and myself.
Why I do remain in the tradition of writing? While AI tools may be good for some, I don’t feel the need to stop what’s already working for me. Writing is an activity that brings me peace, solace, comfort, wonder.
