Creating a Writing Space that Inspires!
@2025 The Author’s Writer
What does your perfect writing nook look, feel, and smell like? What mood is lingering? Romantic or nostalgic? Haphazard or furious?
Is it a small, comfy corner lined with bookshelves and pillows? Is it cluttered with belongings and photographs or writing quotes? Is there music playing or the sound of a trickling fountain at dawn or a freight train late at night?
Is the light ambient or is the room dark? Do you write by the glow of candlelight with a feather pen on a scroll? Or do you write in a leather notebook with a ballpoint pen that fits perfectly into the curve of your hand? Or do you prefer the heavy clicking of a typewriter’s keys or the soft touch of a laptop keyboard?

Some writers prefer the sensation and feel of a typewriter’s heavy keys.
Do you write at a table and chair, or do you sit on a couch, bed, or braided rug upon the floor by a fire? Or do you write outdoors and let nature seep into your soul? A hot cup of brewed black coffee, green tea, ice water, or red wine in hand? The scent of beeswax candles and incense, or fresh air from an open window?
Regardless of your personality, your preferences, or your style, all of these tactile details will affect your writing. You may change your preferences through trial and error, for that’s what writing always is. We never know exactly what will affect it until we’re willing to change the scenery.
Make for yourself a writing space that motivates and inspires. A place where you can relax and freely express what’s on your mind and in your soul. A space where your authenticity flows without judgement, criticism, or interruption.
You may have never considered that your writing space influences your writing, so be willing to experiment until you create a space that feels just right.
