If you want to make a change in your life, make a small shift. Doing so is phenomenal.
As an example, can you wake up fifteen minutes earlier? Eat one less food item? Do a kind act?
When you do so, you create a ripple effect. If you do this every day, those small shifts add up big time.
At first, we may not see the results. We may never see how that small shift affects others. But eventually it comes back to us and creates change. Change is good for us. For, without change, we will not grow!
Small shifts are often fueled by intention in the form of bigger goals. These are goals that are important to us, goals that we must achieve, if at all possible.
To increase the possibility of reaching a goal, the small shift must be combined with daily discipline in order to create consistency!
Consistency, along with intention, helps us reach goals.
WRITING A BOOK
Writing a book is no small undertaking; however, in order to accomplish this goal, you only need to make one small shift:
You must work toward this goal each and every day.
Wanting to write a book is an awesome goal. And, yet most people who wish to do so rarely do. Why not? They want to but they haven’t taken the steps to do so. They have not made that small shift though they can tell you plenty of reasons why they cannot.
It all comes down to priorities!
So, if you have only written a page or a paragraph, you are much further along than those who want to write a book someday or are just thinking about it. This is because writing a book involves intentional action. You can think about writing a book. You can talk about writing a book, but until you start actually writing, you will not be moving toward your goal.
I can’t tell you how many people I have met who say their book is on the back burner. That they are too tired or too busy. There is always something going on. They have moved their deadline from time to time because the writing is not getting done.
You must start writing!
So, to begin. You must start writing. Small goals are easier to achieve than bigger ones. So, start writing at least five minutes per day bare minimum. That is a small shift with exponential results if you remain disciplined and consistent.
You must keep writing!
If you don’t write, your book will not get finished! Simple as that. Do an introspection. What is holding you back? Is this a theme in your business or personal life, too? What small shifts can you make to change your outlook?
Now, you might realize that you are not as self-motivated as you would like to be. Maybe you need accountability. In the form of a deadline. Or in the form on an accountability partner or a writing community!
Maybe making that small shift is hard!
Of course, it is! That is why people do not achieve their goals. Because change is not comfortable. It is not easy to change. That is why your shift should be small. Small is still significant enough to effect change!
